Objectives of the Waru Wora Assiciation

The first well was completed in 2008. The idea of the women was, to use the power of the sun for the watertransport. They realized that the sun should have a lot of energy, bringing the water to the top of their settlements.
The idea got the working name PPWW (Pilot Project Waru Wora).
To develop the implementation of technologies and processes many gave their part, the knowledge of solar engineers and geologists and others.
Why Pilot Project Waru Wora?
Pilot: Because this will be an example for several projects in other parts of the island Sumba.
Project, because it consists of several steps and because the solution is very simple: solar power brings the water from the well to the peaks of the hills to where people live. In the valley they can not live, because it would be too dangerous.
Waru Wora: because this settlement will be the first to receive a solar-pump installation and because it will be typical of many other situations of this kind.
The aim of the Waru Wora Association is to finance installations for all residential areas in Sumba, on the basis of contributions, donations, sponsorship and the free management of the implementation.
The Association has the vision, to act according to certain principles. The vision is an island Sumba without any suffering of women and girls who have to haul up the water unnecessarily every day for so long and dangerous routes. The Association will following the guideline for action, that this vision can be achieved with funding, donations, sponsors and project funds efficiently and without individual enrichment.
